Graduate Trainee Programme: Business Development
Overview
Sell Ideas. Build Business.
Are you curious about how businesses grow, relationships turn into opportunities, and ideas become reality? Join the Hood.
Jiranihood is looking for a recent graduate to join our team in Kampala for a practical, on-site Graduate Trainee Programme in Business Development.
We work with African businesses to build brands that can stand the test of time. We believe lasting brands need more than good ideas. They need strong relationships, commercial thinking, strategic direction and people who know how to turn opportunities into meaningful progress.
If you are curious about business, confident with people and eager to learn how growth happens, this opportunity could be for you.
About the opportunity
The Graduate Trainee Programme offers practical exposure to business development within a brand stewardship company working to help African brands grow and build lasting legacies.
You will learn how businesses identify opportunities, develop relationships, communicate value and build partnerships that support long-term growth.
We are looking for someone who takes initiative, asks thoughtful questions, follows through on commitments and is ready to learn by doing.
What you will explore
During the programme, you may gain exposure to:
- Business Development: Identifying opportunities and supporting business growth.
- Sales: Understanding client needs, communicating value, and supporting the sales process.
- Partnerships: Building relationships that create mutual value.
- Client Relationships: Supporting meaningful, long-term engagement.
- Brand Strategy: Understanding how positioning, differentiation, and brand value influence growth.
You will have chances to develop communication, commercial awareness, research, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
Who we are looking for
You must be a recent graduate who is:
- Curious and commercially minded.
- Confident and articulate.
- Diligent and proactive.
- Good with people and relationship-building.
- Eager to learn and improve.
- Resourceful and willing to take initiative.
- Interested in business growth, African brands, and entrepreneurship.
- Able to communicate professionally and work collaboratively.
You do not need to know everything already. We value curiosity, accountability, a willingness to learn and the discipline to follow through.
What we expect from you
Come ready to learn about businesses and the people behind them.
Be willing to research, ask questions, initiate conversations, explore opportunities, and support the team in turning ideas into action.
We value people who can listen as well as speak, think commercially without losing sight of people, and build relationships based on trust.
Bring your curiosity. Build your confidence. Learn how business grows.
